I can post from my iPod touch.

Today involved fish and chips, horses, walking, Tin Man on bluray, Buzz on the ps3 and cheesecake.

Yesterday involved shopping, sushi, Waitress, a fire safety inspection and the Weta exhibition.

Tomorrow has not yet happened.

The Wii is undergoing a second coming in our flat. After gathering dusts for months since the purchase of the PS3, I've finished Zelda (well worth the effort), played lots of Mario Kart (good multiplayer, frustrating single player) and am now besotted with Wii Fit.

WiiFit arrived on Friday morning and a quick test gave me a bmi of 24.92, which is just in the "ideal" range. Four days later, I've lost 4lbs and have a bmi of 24.12, which is more of an improvement than I'd hoped for. Its hard work, but fun and both addictive and competitive, with me & the Porg vying for top spot on the leaderboards of the various tasks. The activities are divided into 4 categories Yoga, Muscles Workouts, Aerobic Activities and Balance games. Yoga is much tougher than I imagined, muscle workouts are the least fun, aerobic activities include hula-hooping (minus the hoop), step and jogging on the spot and are challenging fun and the balance games includes all the good stuff - heading a football, ski jumping and slalom etc. Wii Fit is great for people, like me, who want to exercise without going to a gym as it provides structure, fun and a competitive environment where you create your own goals (I want to lose a stone).

I'm back from a weekend in Manchester. Went shopping and lunched on saturday before checking into the Travelodge (bed was a bit soft but ok otherwise) and then heading off to meet Marc & Jake and watch City whilst Nel went to Didsbury to see her siblings. The match was dull and City lacked ideas and failed to take the few chances they created; Wigan were as crap as ever.  After the match we got drenched as we headed back to the hotel to meet Neil & Pete and head off to see the Cult. We were late as a Welsh hen party had booked all available taxis and a quick drink in Kro meant we comnpletely missed Theatre of Hate, although Kirk B was stood next to us at the bar of the revamped Academy.  The venue was crap, still not finished, the sound was muddy, the floor was covered in water and the toilets were portakabins outside the building.  The Cult opened with Spiritwalker and closed with Love Removal Machine with a detour via most of their singles and a couple of tracks from the new album. Astbury sang the opening line to a couple of Joy Division songs Billy was far more talkative than usual and a good time was had by all. Afterwards Marc went home and we headed for the salisbury to drink far too much and meet the Martian.  Hangovers were much in evidence on Sunday and we cancelled lunch plans, curtailed the shopping (ie just Forbidden Planet) and endured an unpleasant train journey back to Leeds.  At home we cranked up the central heating and crashed on the futon.

Today I'm tired and struggling to get motivated. Tomorrow I'm in London and so up at stupid o'clock.

Whilst watching Little Nicky last night I was musing on the nature of good and evil.  If the devil is in charge of hell, and is evil, why does he punish people for being evil? Surely Satan should have some sort of reward system (a la performance related pay) where he rewards sinners for their foul deeds.

Just seen Cloverfield which was 5 parts Blair Witch Project, 4 parts Godzilla and 1 part Alien.  Its short, maybe 80 minutes, but seemed longer. Its all filmed, deliberately badly, with a hand-held video-camera - it must take real skill to make something look deliberately amateurish. There's a plot that makes it all hang together but to say any more would be to enter spolier territory.  Its pretty gripping and its also worth a watch for the fact that its shot so differently to your regular blockbuster and it devoid of star turns.  Also saw trailers  for Iron Man (looks silly). Hellboy2 (looks fun),  Rambo (looks very very violent) and Star Trek (just a teaser to arouse the fan boys, of which I'm not one), there were more trailers but they don't merit a mention.

This weekend I have mostly been playing Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii - its ****ing great, although it takes a bit of getting used to.  Managed to drag myself away long enough to go and see the new Coen bros film, No Country For Old Men.  Its a real return to form and reminds most of Blood Simple (with a hint of Cronenberg's A History of Violence, for good measure) - its brutal (Nel had to look away on several occasions), compelling  and quite probably my film of the year.  Also popped into Jumbo and bought an electro 12" (the name of which escapes me) and then went to the German market to get Nel some fruit dipped in chocolate.

Work continues to be highly problematic.

Having survived the visit of Nel's mum (Trish the Dish) we ventured to Vue this lunchtime to watch Stardust. We weren't overly impressed, the last 45 mins is very good but the first 90 mins drags somewhat. I wont go into plot details as I don't wanna spoil it for you but its funny in parts. Also watched Transformers last night - boy is that a rubbish film, possibly the worst film I've seen this year, of course the special effects are fantastic but it really didn't engage me. Other than that we've been catching up on the latest US tv shows and generally lounging around under the duvet.

Tomorrow is Ne'l birthday and we are going to Chester Zoo. Rain is forecast but we don't care.

After the hell that was work last week we spent most of the weekend chilling in front of the tv, apart from saturday when we went shopping, which was a bit hectic. Watched two episodes each of Heroes, Smallville, Reaper, Bionic Woman, Pushing Daisies and Flash Gordon - spoiler ridden reviews available on request. Then we watched half of season 2 after the box set escaped the postal strike and arrived on saturday morning, no sign of family Guy season 6, which was posted last Thursday. Also switched the Wii on for the first time in months, having bought Red Steel & Eledees in a 2-for-£40 deal at Virgin. Eledees seems kinda interesting but not got to Red Steel yet, maybe tonight. Had a weekend largely free of email, facebook and the interweb in general.

Morrisons sell gluten-free bagels - woot!

The Hyde Park cinema has been refurbished since I last visited, the seats are now pretty comfy, it must be two years since I last went. Control was the movie, Anton Corbijn's biopic of the late great Ian Curtis. I must admit that my hopes were not high for this movie, and a as a long time Joy Division fan I was mostly unimpressed. I think the movie set out to perpetuate the mystique about Joy Division but there was little in the movie to suggest that they were one of the greatest rock n roll bands of the last thirty years. The movie doesn't really convey how good the band were or how big they were becoming. From a fanboy point of view there are a number of inaccuracies that I won't bore you with. Having said all that it wasn't all bad, its mostly well shot apart from a couple of wannabe poignant moments that just don't work for me, and there are some good characters, especially the band's manager Rob Gretton who is gloriously foul-mouthed and vitriolic. John Cooper Clarke played himself and looked 30 years too old to be doing so. If you are not a fan of the band you might enjoy it more but, to me, Sam Riley looked like he was impersonating a media-constructed ideal of Ian Curtis rather than playing the man himself. I'm underwhelmed.

In other news, City won and stay third. Maybe it wont last but I'm enjoying it whilst it does.

Cracked and bought a PS3 yesterday. We are planning to buy a tv but cant decide on make/model/size etc and then Nel mentioned that Woolies were doing PS3 packages (+ extra controller, 2 games and 2 films) for £375, so we went halves on it. It took me 90 mins to sort out the spaghetti of wiring and adaptors and then do the PS3 set-up. Am not overly impressed with the blu-ray, the step up from dvd is not as dramatic as from VHS to dvd. Games are good (not as good as the 360 though) and am gonna connect the PSP to it at some point (ie when I figure out how and why).

Other than that, we were in Leek last weekend, City briefly topped the table and we saw Knocked Up (v funny and quite sweet), Evan Almighty (not so funny but not as bad as the reviews suggest) and Hitch (overlong an d not very funny).

Back to work tomorrow, urgh.
